Deconstructing existing narratives, and analyzing how wars and conflicts historically and in the present are represented and reproduced, WAAAW tries to find a tight passage towards peace-building, community organizing, unity despite differences, unconditional solidarity, and alliances beyond convergences.

As part of the Art, Education and Research module at the Department of space&design strategies at the University of Art and Design Linz, Alessandra Pomarico and Ayan Rezaei together with students are presenting the results of their work on the themes of War, Conflict and Memories. In addition, Elliot Perkins will expand on the themes with a workshop.

What Is The Sound of the Conflict You Cannot Hear?
Elliot Perkins of the sound art collective Ultra-red facilitates a listening encounter together with students from the Kunstuni in this third phase of their ongoing sound inquiry, also carried on by organizers from local solidarity organizations. After using Ultra-red’s methodology of the listening walk through a series of collective listenings in the city, leading to the collection of several sound objects, participants will gather at Memphis to listen and reflect together.

The World War in my Body
In the workshop around the question: How did war enter my home, my body, and thoughts?, Ayan Rezaei carried out an investigation with the students to explore memories of war. The workshop participants contributed to creating a collective map from their personal experiences. The body became a site of war memory, an archive of the wars they could find in their biographies.
