Clara Boesl works on the attempt to dismantle aesthetic phenomenologies and fads, from kitsch to copies, and to rebuild the resulting parts in a fantastically dubious way. The existing possibilities of the space to be used and the respective exhibition situation contribute significantly to Boesl's approach. Clara Boesl was born in Landshut (DE) in 1993. She completed a bachelor's degree in textil.kunst.design and a diploma in sculpture at the University of Art and Design Linz and a year at the Universidat National in Bogotá (COL), specialising in Artes Plasticas.
With Dijon, Boesl takes up the original idea of editions. Casting is a traditional sculptural reproduction method, a sculptural equivalent of printmaking. It is always a slightly different reproduction of the same thing. These are brass casts that reproduce the fleeting moment of a small mishap. It is a surrogate of the dripping mould. Because once the blob has been translated into the solid material, the mould can no longer really trickle away under cosy temperatures. The title of the work replicates the seemingly endlessly flowing references of old masters, masked with the spelling of the delicious Dijon mustard. In addition to a trip to Dijon, the relevant guides to enjoyment also recommend collecting art editions as an introduction to collecting. However, this introduction is also the foundation of a depot. Dijon claims to be good art for under the sofa. At best, an unpretentious collection of curiosities can be stored there.
